After receiveing a Master's Degree in Translation, students can opt to continue studies towards a Specialized Translator Certificate. He or she must complete eighteen (18) graduate-level credits in a specialized area. Specific courses will be determined on a case-by-case basis in coordination with the University of Puerto Rico System academic unit whose academic expertise corresponds to the specialization field. In order to be awarded the certificate, the student must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
Some of these specializations are: Legal Translation, Translation for Science and Technology, Public Health Translation, etc. We urge the student to talk to the director of the department for any additional information on the Specialized Translator Certificate.
Please note that the deadline to apply for the Specialized Translator Certificate is the same as the deadline for the MA program. This date is established by the DEGI.
